Description

Susan was trying to task between watching for signs of more of the catmen, now that she knew they were in the area. And trying to listen to the conversation amidst the three strangers. The two warriors were questioning the blond about her being a mage, while the girl kept explaining until now, she didn't know that she was a mage, let alone how she created the shield that saved her companion life. If she had not seen it, she would never had believed it was possible, magic, just as the father said.

"Have you ever seen me do magic before?" Cait suddenly shouted, only to be immediately shushed by Susan, "Quiet," the striped woman said softly, "chances are those were only scouts...The cats normally travel in groups of twenty or more...Why they're here I have no idea." Nodding, the three went back to whispers, just has they arrived at her hideout, it seemed to Susan that the pair of warriors were satisfied with the blonds explanation, though she was now concerned that the magic girl seemed to be a slave to the dark warrior.

Leading the group through a maze of hallways, stairs and doors, they finally arrived entered a room that seemed more...Kept up that the rest the trio had seen. "Make yourselves at home," Susan said with a smile as she scrutinized the three women. Their clothes, weapons, even how they spoke, details that she committed to memory for repeating back to father.

"This is safe you said?" Monifa asked, as she looked at the room, her attention seized by a bow laying on a table. "Goddess!" she exclaimed setting her spear down as she picked up a bow like she had never seen before. "Your people made this?" she asked, astonished at the craftsmanship. Nodding, the striped female, took advantage of the moment and picked up the warrior's spear, acting at ease as she sat in the chair to study it more closely. The others she noticed were equally excited by some of the items she had found during this trip.

"I would not do that" she spoke up since Cait was looking down the barrel of a saw-off shotgun. "That thing could blow your head off if it was loaded." Staring at the strange metal object, Cait decided not to argue, as she carefully put it down. "How does it work?" she asked.

"No," Belen said as she put down a razor tip arrow down, "First, tell us about you and these cat men...Are all the people in this land like you?"

She wondered how much she should tell them, father had said if she ran into any such as these....People that she thought were a fantasy of the father, to tell them little about this land, but to also gain their trust. Blowing out a breath she leaned back in her chair, "About, oh.....Two hundred years ago, two small tribes when to war, in time, one tribe started to win. The losing tribe used...." Pausing she wonder how to explain biological weapons to people that didn't know what a gun was. Then with a glance at Cait, she smiled, "The losing tribe used magical poison potions, against the winning tribe." Seeing the nods, her eyebrows went up that they understood. "But this poison was not like anything ever used before, it killed the land, animals, insects, and of course the people. Well now, the other tribe, had their own mage's and struck back with their poison."

Taking a breath she saw that she had their attention, "Soon, the neighboring tribes, attacked them, to stop their use of poisons. Next thing you know, they're all using poisons against one another and the poison started to spread on the wind. Now, one of the bigger tribes, used a weapon that....Was so powerful, that it could destroy cities." Nodding, as Cait stared at her in disbelief, "They used that against the small tribes, then an ally of one of the small tribes, used their destroyer weapon on the big tribe, more tribes joined in and they all killed themselves in a day."

"Goddess," Monifa whispered, "Yes," Susan replied, "Or lack of one that day...That fighting was over, the tribes had killed each other, the land was ruined by so many poisons, that it was everywhere. About...Damn...Fifty years later as I was told, the first...Animal person was born. They said, that the mixture of so many poisons, fallout, and who knows what, screwed-up the DNA of a pregnant woman who had eaten the meat of said animal."

"What's DNA?" Cait asked.

Looking at Cait, Susan just shrugged her shoulders, "It'll take a long time to explain that...Just say, this...Cocktail messed up people's bodies. There's catmen...The one that grabbed you in the middle of a fight...Think he was looking to breed."

Looking pale, Cait, glanced around at the others, "So, I would birth.....Cats?"

"From the father side, yes...Females like me, that mate with a normal human, the children would look normal." Stopping to see how they were taking this, she was startled by a side view of Belen, she had thought they were not of this world, but the tall warrior..."Not to say that, it's animals only, some have been born with an extra arm, legs, other things....Like, you?" As she nodded to Belen.

Smirking, the barbarian stood taller, "I'm not known for being....Normal." Moving closer to Susan, Belen, nodded, "In our land, is not...Unknown for one to be born like me, it's rare, but, some consider it a curse from the gods.

"Aye," Monifa agreed, "then again, some tribes look at it as a blessing, since women are deemed worthless by some fools." A snort from Cait voiced her opinion.

Belen, grinned at Susan as the woman tried not to be too obvious at checking out the barbarian, "Have you met one such as I?"

Rolling her eyes, the striped woman, sat back in her chair, as the other went back to looking at her salvage. "One of my sisters, is like you...I've seen her plenty of times, you have nothing I've not seen before."

"I doubt that." Belen smirked.

Raising an eyebrow, Susan leaned forward, "If I look and I'm not impressed, you tell me all about your land....Since we're stuck here until tonight, you'll have a lot of time to talk." Laughing, the barbarian looked down at the woman, "And if your tongue tied....You belong to me until darkness falls." Seeing her glance at the other Belen shook her head, "Don't worry about them, we've all tumbled together so often, they don't care."

"Deal," Susan replied reaching for the hem of the warriors tunic.
